SURRY — Sanford (Sandy) Steven Lindsey, 68, of Surry left the Earth Saturday, May 27, in Township 24 at his camper on Hadley’s Lakes with some family and his camping family in attendance.

Sandy was the first child born to Steven and Dorothy (Turner) Lindsey. Sandy was predeceased by his parents, his only sister Wanda and a stepbrother, Rodney. Sandy left behind his brother Damiel and his partner Evelyn of Ellsworth. Sandy also left these people to carry on for him: his wife, Joan, of Surry; his only son Ray and his life partner Amanda of Surry; his only daughter Bonnie and her life partner Kristy of Ellsworth; stepchildren Barry of Surry, Mike and his wife, Heidi, of Bucksport; and Laurie of Oakland, his add-on daughter Edna and her husband, Mike, of Harrington and a special brother in law, Herb of Deblois.

Sandy enjoyed his grandchildren Victor, Corey and Patrick, who became his camping buddies and adventurers, and also his step-grandchildren. He was also thrilled to have added his very own great-granddaughter Natalie and all the step-great-grandchildren whom he loved to have come and visit. Sandy had many adventures in life and he very much enjoyed all things he did, including mechanic and carpentry work, woodcutting and care giving. He was an avid wanderer both in his vehicle and his four-wheeler and we mustn’t forget about his well-known habit of picking up cans and bottles he found everywhere. He loved his time at camp and made many friends that way.

There will be a celebration of Sandy’s life Sunday, June 11, from 2-4 p.m. at the Surry Grange Hall, Route 172, Surry.
