ELLSWORTH — Marilyn Katrina (Ames) Moore passed away at home surrounded by her family on May 11, 2017, after a long battle with COPD.
She was born on Jan. 14, 1937, in Rockland, the eldest daughter of Lyford and Marguerite (Ginn) Ames. Marilyn grew up on Mantinicus Island and graduated from Bucksport High School.
On Oct. 8, 1955, she married John H. Moore Sr., and they raised their family of seven children in Bucksport and Steuben. After John’s passing in 2008, she moved to Ellsworth, where she lived until her death.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, John Jr. and Susan, Roger and Kathi, Michael and Tammy; daughters Pamela and Fred Kneeland, Brenda and Randy Beal, and Alice Chasse; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister Marie Perkins, brother George Ames, dear friend Sheila Batson and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, John Sr., daughter Diana and a special brother-in-law, Norman Perkins.
The family would like to thank the Pulmonary Rehab Department at MCMH, Beacon Hospice and Giselle Robertson, FNP.
Private burial will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to MCMH Pulmonary Department. Arrangements by Direct Cremation of Maine.
