FRANKLIN — Gary Clifford Tracy died peacefully on April 30 following a sudden illness. Gary was born on Sept. 9, 1946, he grew up on Verona Island with his parents, Clifford Tracy of Franklin and Leona Woodman Tracy of Verona Island, and he was predeceased by both.
He is survived by his wife, Terry Tracy, of Franklin; sister Darcy Tracy-Carter of Seattle, Wash.; son Robert Tracy of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Amy Tracy of Seymour, Conn.; and two grandchildren, Liam and Althea Carlson of Seymour, Conn. Also, brothers-in-law Jerry Wilbur and wife, Stacy, Steven Wilbur and wife, Sherry, sister-in-law Debbie Freeman, and husband, Rick, as well as many beloved family and friends.
Gary graduated from Bucksport High School and shortly after joined the U.S. Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked in the Brewer Paper Mill and Jackson Laboratories. He later went into building boats, at Hinckley’s and Able Marine. Gary returned to school and become a master oil burner technician, and retired from his own business, Tracy’s Heating. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing pool with friends, and spending leisure time with his wife and dog. He will be missed greatly.
A gathering will be held at the Franklin Veterans Club on Friday May 12, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. to join family and friends to celebrate Gary’s life. The family would like to send a special appreciation to Debbie Freeman, Gary’s sister-in-law, for the love and support she has provided for many years, and during this difficult time.
