GOULDSBORO — Janean (Nean) M. Joy, 46, passed away on April 24, 2017, at Courtland Center, Ellsworth. She was born Nov. 30, 1970, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Paul R. and Linda A. (Kiel) Joy.
Janean graduated from Sumner Memorial High School, Class of 1989. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school, earning her cosmetology license. In her younger years, she owned and operated a beauty salon. Later in life, she shifted her career path to bartending and lastly to becoming a personal care assistant (PCA), which she found very rewarding.
Nean took great pleasure in gardening, crafting and cross-stitching. She cherished spending time with her family. One of her greatest joys was visiting with her grandsons. Nean loved going to yard sales and thrift stores and took great delight in finding a deal, which she would happily share with all. Nean was outgoing and cheerful, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her smile, her laughter and her infectious humor will be missed.
Janean is survived by her parents, Paul and Linda Joy of Gouldsboro; her three children, James Hayward and Taylor Wallace of Franklin, Katrina Hayward of Gouldsboro and Jessob Hayward of Gouldsboro; two grandchildren, James and Jagger Hayward of Franklin; one brother, John Joy of Gouldsboro, and a sister, June (Joy) Ledwith, and Ken Stuart of Cornish; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and several close friends, including Lynn Broughman of Ellsworth and Tracy Rice of Gouldsboro.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the Knights of Pythias Hall, Route 1, Gouldsboro. Her three children and close friends will also hold a BBQ this summer with a date to be determined. Condolences may be expressed at www.acadiacremation.com.
