SOMESVILLE — Louisa Patterson Malizia, of Somesville, died March 19 in Boothbay Harbor, surrounded by her loving family.
Louisa was born Louisa Dawson Patterson on Dec. 28, 1932, in Boston, Mass., to Robert W. and Barbara N. Patterson. She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, and married Henry Bowen Burnett in 1950. After the marriage ended in divorce, Louisa lived in Dedham, Mass., where she raised her three children and worked as a beloved children’s librarian at the Dedham Public Library. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Joseph Malizia.
Louisa had a great spirit of adventure. Her children have fond memories of camping trips with her throughout the wilds of New England and Canada. She was an avid watercolorist, gardener and reader. She led a quiet life in her later years in Somesville, surrounded by her family.
Louisa was a gentle and gracious soul, loved by all who knew her. She will be very sadly missed by her husband, Joseph Malizia, her children, Whiteley Wheeler, Abby Burnett, Nick Burnett, Stephen Malizia, Robert Malizia and Carole Jordan, her 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and her brother, Robert W. Patterson Jr.
