EASTBROOK – On March 4, 2017, Wayne Haslam, wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed surrounded by his loving family.
In 1956, Wayne graduated from Lee Academy and went on to marry the love of his life, Sally (Sarah Edgecomb) in 1961. Together they had a daughter and two sons. Wayne drove a truck part time for E.D. Holt and worked in the woods. He retired from St. Regis after 30-plus years and he began focusing on his firewood business with his son Tim. Together with his family and friends he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and the Fryeburg Fair, which became a family tradition. Wayne was a Master Mason in the Lygonia Lodge.
He is survived by the lady who brought the sunshine back to his life, Louise Dickens of Eastbrook; son Jeffrey Haslam and wife, Claudette, of Brockway, N.B.; daughter Becky Lane and husband, Brian, of Eastbrook; daughter-in-law Pye Haslam and companion, Matt McDevitt, of Eastbrook; 10 adored grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Brandon, Sara, Sabrina, Rachael, Jenna, Emily, Avery and Devon; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Maddison and Elliot; brothers Dwight Haslam and wife, Tiny, of Portland, Donald Haslam of Trenton; sister-in-law Joanne Haslam; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved son Timothy in 2003; his beloved wife, Sarah “Sally” Haslam, in 2010; brother Thurston Haslam; sister Donna Barrows.
Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with a funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017. A reception will follow at the Eastbrook Community Center. Interment will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Eastbrook.
