BAR HARBOR — Susan M. Hodgkins, 67, died peacefully at the Mount Desert Island Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born Dec. 27, 1949, in Sasabo Shi, Japan, the daughter of Harvey Dale Hodgkins and Shoko Mizuki.
Susan immigrated to the United States with her family in 1953, and lived in Bar Harbor. She graduated from the Bar Harbor High School, Class of 1968. Following graduation, Susan worked at the MDI Hospital, and later, Sonogee Estates. She married Dennis L. Sullivan, and they settled in Town Hill. Susan was an active member of The Church of Life and Praise for many years. She loved to sing, traveled frequently, and loved her cats.
Susan is survived by her mother, Shoko Mizuki, of Kyoto, Japan; and son Sean Sullivan, of Ellsworth; and various extended relatives abroad. She was predeceased by her father, Harvey Dale Hodgkins, and her eldest son, Dennis Leeman Sullivan Jr. For those wishing to pay respects, there will be a Celebration of Life service at The Church of Life and Praise on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 6 p.m.
