Virginia Annette (Cotton) Gross

OBIT-Virginia GrossBUCKSPORT and FRISCO, TEXAS — Virginia Annette (Cotton) Gross, 100, passed away on March 24, 2016, in Frisco, Texas. She was born Nov. 11, 1915, the second daughter of Mabel (Clay) Cotton and Charles Frederick Cotton of Blue Hill.

Virginia was educated in the Blue Hill Schools and married Kenneth U. Gross of East Orland in 1937. Kenneth passed away in April of 1995 after their marriage of 57 years.

She was active in her community of Orland, serving on the school board, active member of the Order of Eastern Star Riverside Chapter No. 123 of Orland and served as secretary and treasurer of the Back Ridge Cemetery Corp. and helped in its foundation.

Virginia leaves two daughters; Annette J. Jasinsky of Arizona; Katherine J. Tomarelli of Texas; granddaughters Karen Jasinsky of Florida; Trisha Aruda of Rhode Island; and Monica A. Stephens and Melissa V. Tomarelli of Texas; grandson Kenneth J Aruda of Rhode Island, two nieces, Mabel Gray of Bucksport and Sharon Gray of Verona Island. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister Emma, and granddaughter Deborah, daughter Cora.

Donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to Back Ridge Cemetery Corp. C/O Molly Lord, 144 Back Ridge Road, Orland, ME 04472.

At Virginia’s request, there will be no viewing. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday May 20, 2016, at the Back Ridge Cemetery, Orland. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services. (mitchelltweedie-young.com).
