ELLSWORTH – Larry R. “Butch” Pelletier, 69, died Nov. 26, 2016, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, Mass., surrounded by his family. He was born July 28, 1947, in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Laurier R. and Pearl E. (Davis) Pelletier.
He graduated from Ellsworth High School, University of Maine, Farmington with a BA degree, and earned his Masters at University of Maine, Orono. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Butch taught kindergarten and first grade for six years. After teaching, he joined the family business, Larry’s Pastry. He and his younger sister, Launa Picard, became co-owners of the bakery. While at the pastry shop, he continued to nurture and educate all his employees on work ethic, community values, and the importance of giving back. One of his favorite things was when he held nursery school and grade school tours. Butch continued baking until this fall at Friends and Family Market. Butch enjoyed being outdoors whether he was mowing lawns or riding in his convertible. He had a kind and loving heart and a sarcastic wit, which many of the local community members enjoyed. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
