Cranberry Isles
Gaile Frederica Colby (Bunker), 87, of Cranberry Isles, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 27, 2022, at her home.
She was born on April 18, 1935, to Lindon Bunker and Ruth Sylvester Bunker in Bar Harbor.
Gaile lived her whole life on Cranberry Island. She was president of the Cranberry Isles Ladies Aid and the Cranberry Isles Congregational Church for 25 years.
She is survived by her children, Eileen C. Richards and Blair Emery Colby, and grandchildren, Heather Varnum, Kenneth McCafferty, Tarnya Colby Sanborn, Michael King, Auburn Bailey, Sheala Miller, Nathaniel Colby, Ashton Colby and Olivia Colby.
She was predeceased by her husband, Royal Emerson Colby; her life partner, George Arvard Savage; her children, Lyndon Emerson Colby, Rhonda Jane Colby King and Renna Susan Colby; grandson Shawn King; and her two brothers, Alison Bunker and Arthur Bunker.
Private services are planned. A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cranberry Isles Ladies Aid Building. A boat will leave Northeast Harbor at 11 a.m. for the Island and leave at 2:30 p.m.
