ELLSWORTH – Charles A. Spencer, 80, died peacefully Oct. 21, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 12, 1936, in Veazie, son of Charles Abraham and Evelyn Mae Spencer.
Charlie attended Veazie and Bangor schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and was employed by the Bangor Hydro Electric Co., as a hydro operator at the Ellsworth dam. Following retirement, he was employed at the Jackson Lab in Bar Harbor as a security officer. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Peg, of 58 years, two children, Bruce Spencer and his wife, Irene, and Holly Spencer; granddaughter Jayleen Spencer and her significant other, Sheldon Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Bentlee Charles Jordan, Bradlee Ralph Jordan, and Brailee Louise Jordan; three sisters, Frances Lindquist, Alverda Wilson, and Janet Sleeper; two brothers, George and Eugene Spencer; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls, North Road, Ellsworth.
