Franklin
On the morning of Jan. 30, 2022, Donnie passed away at his home at the age of 92. Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, who passed away 11 years ago at the age of 78. They were happily married for 60 years. Donnie was born on May 13, 1929, to father John Morris Anderson and mother Ina Lucretia (Hooper) Anderson and was a lifelong resident of Franklin.
After graduating from Franklin High School in 1947, he turned his passion for woodworking into a lifelong career in carpentry, building many homes in Franklin and the surrounding area, including his first and last family home. Donnie was a 50-plus-year member of the David A. Hooper Masonic Lodge in Sullivan, Blanquefort Commandery, Acadia Chapter, Scottish Rites, Anah Shrine and a past District Deputy Grand Master of Maine 21st District. Donnie was an avid hunter, bagging his last deer at the age of 85. In the summer, you could always find Donnie with a blueberry rake in hand — in winter, trudging the same blueberry fields with snowshoes.
He leaves behind two daughters, Donna Abbott and husband, Brian, and Diana Kokoska Sites and husband, Joe; a son, Donald Anderson Jr., and wife, Tina; a brother, Richard Anderson, and wife, Karen; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by grandson Benji Abbott.
A special thank you to his caregivers and his special neighbor, Larry, who made it possible for Donnie to remain in his home until his death.
A celebration of life service will be held at Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth on Sunday, Feb. 6. Visiting hours are from 1-2 p.m. followed by a Masonic funeral and service of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the David A Hooper Lodge No. 201 at P.O. Box 303, Sullivan, ME 04664.
