Gouldsboro

Stephen H. Kelley, 64, lost his battle with cancer on Jan. 25, 2022, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. Stephen was born on March 15, 1957, in Gouldsboro, the son of Harold and Fern (Atwater) Kelley.

Stephen spent most of his life in Gouldsboro; he was a graduate of Sumner Memorial High School, Class of 1975. After graduating high school, he joined the Army National Guard. A carpenter by trade, Stephen was involved in many construction projects in Hancock County during his working years.

An avid outdoorsman, Stephen enjoyed hunting, taking his morning rides to look for wildlife, living a more “primitive” life, enjoying the peace and quiet by the fireside, shooting competitions, black powder rifles, as he was a part of a pre-1840 re-enactment group — Ancient Ones of Maine. Stephen was a quiet, devoted family man who had a big heart and will be missed greatly by his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Kelley, and stepdaughter, Lisa Gordon. He is survived by his mother, Fern Kelley; sister, Dee Kelley; brother, Mark Kelley, and his wife, Shannon; stepson, Daniel Workman Jr., and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donations in Stephen’s memory can be made to Schoodic Penisula Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 68, Prospect Harbor, ME 04669.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias, where online condolences may be shared: www.bragdonkelley.com.
