Clara G. Johnson, 91, passed away surrounded by her family on Jan. 12, 2022. Clara was born in Franklin on Dec. 4, 1930, the daughter of Hollis and Charlotte (O’Hern) Hawks.
Clara was a proud mother who devoted her life to raising her family and to her faith in God. She was a devout Christian. Whether it was Bible school or Sunday school, you could always find Clara at Franklin Baptist Church. She was a part of the Franklin Garden Club and, most importantly, you could always find her laughing.
Clara will be missed by her children, David, Arthur, Paula, Karen and Nancy, and her husband, Pete; her stepchildren, Everett and wife, Penny, and Rosemary and her husband, Ernest; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and a special sister, Sondra, and husband, Norman. Clara was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; granddaughter, Rachelle; special brother, Marshall; special sister, Donna; son, Gary; sons-in-law, Raymond and David, and a special aunt, Dorothy.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Franklin Baptist Church, 4 Main St., Franklin. Clara will be laid to rest by her husband at Bayview Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Clara’s name can be made to Northern Light Hospice Care.
