Blue Hill

Anthony Kennedy Heller, 78, lost his battle with cancer on Nov. 15, 2021, at his home in Blue Hill. Tony was born in Trenton, N.J., on Feb. 27, 1943, to Frances (Kennedy) Heller and Homer Heller of Falls Church, Va.

Tony grew up in Falls Church, graduated from Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Conn., in 1961 and went on to receive a teaching degree from the University of Maine, Farmington. After graduating, he taught social studies at Upper Kennebec Valley High School in Bingham, until he took a position at George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill in 1980. He retired from GSA in 1995.

Tony spent every summer of his life in Blue Hill, primarily in his family’s home “Shoreby” on Parker Point. He was a lifelong member of the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club and won a number of sailing trophies in his youth. He enjoyed sailing his Southcoast 23, “Hello,” now sailed by a younger cousin, driving his restored 1934 Plymouth PE, which won a few trophies at the Blue Hill auto show, doing crossword puzzles and making latch-hook rugs.

Tony is survived by a sister and numerous special cousins.

A private service for immediate family will be held at a later date.

Tony and his family would like to thank his caregivers, especially Becky Myers and Pete Waugh, for their exceptional care and dedication over the final months.

Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.

Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
