Sandra L. Smith died at home with her husband, son and friends at her side after a long, slow progression of dementia on Nov. 12, 2021. Sandy was born Sept. 4, 1948, to Roland and Vernice White. She loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and was a wonderful cook. Her artistic talent allowed her to paint beautiful murals and made several quilts. Sandy had a great love for the outdoors and doing projects with her husband and having their dog alongside, most recently their buddy Zeke. She led her husband to discover the love of God and church, where they were both active. She enjoyed fishing off the piers with the locals while in Florida, where she loved to soak up the sun and warmth. Sandy was blessed to have many good friends who helped she and Doug along the journey.
She is survived by her loving husband, Doug, who cared for her throughout her journey, her son Andrew Gray, her daughter Heather Swindell, Doug’s sons Gregory Smith, Todd Smith and husband, Kevin Hart, grandchildren Mandy Gray and Andrew Gray Jr. and Nicki Bowden and great-grandchildren Jack, Olivia and Aiden. Sandy also is survived by her sister, Myrna Faye Ivers. Sandy was predeceased by her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held in the spring of 2022. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services Bucksport. (mitchelltweedie-young.com)
