Keith DeShong passed away peacefully at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital from COVID-19-related issues on Nov. 9, 2021.
Keith was born Aug. 23, 1953, to Paul and Lucille DeShong at Military Hospital St. Albans, N.Y., the son of a military father. He was a Navy brat for many years before his family settled in Ledyard, Conn., his father’s last duty station before retiring.
He was a graduate of Ledyard High School and very active in the Ledyard VOAG Program, and later employed by Electric Boat Trade Training School, Groton, Conn., for 15 years.
Keith moved to Maine in 1997 to pursue other areas of employment. He especially enjoyed working and repairing cars of all sorts in his spare time and was also a great handyman, able to repair or rebuild almost anything broken and had great carpentry skills. He was known to have a great sense of humor and quick wit.
After becoming ill with various chronic illnesses in 2007, he had spent the better part since hospitalized quite often and homebound.
He is survived by his devoted and cherished daughter Gina of Oakdale, Conn.; son Michael (Danielle) of Mariaville; daughters Melissa Jordan of Otis and Kristin of Norwich, Conn.; six grandchildren, Danielle, Tyler, Amanda, Quentin, Neena and Jordae, as well as two great-grandchidren, Oliver and newest addition Madilynn; a brother, Richard, and his family of Warner Robins, Ga.; and a very special friend, Pastor Ray Stephens.
There are no services planned.
