Lynne Rae West, 71, lost her battle with COVID-19 in the wee hours of the morning on Nov. 8, 2021, at a Portland hospital. Lynne was born on Nov. 29, 1949, the daughter of Guy and Marilyn Sargent.
Lynne was a friend to everyone she met. She loved to read, knit and play card games with her best friend and sister-in-law Eleanor. She was the happiest when camping and going to the Blue Hill and Fryeburg fairs. She was a kind and gentle soul who would do anything for anyone in need.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 42 years, David; a daughter, Patti Tozier, and husband, Charlie; a son, Timmy Hosbach, and companion Buffy; a brother, John Sargent, and wife, Lisa; a stepson, David A. West; four grandchildren, Heather Adams and husband, Logan, Scott Young, Austin Stover and Tiffany Silva; six great-grandchildren, Adam, Aiden, Oliver, Leo, Rhea and Zoie; three step-grandchildren, David A. West Jr., Austin and Brendon West; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her dog “Buddy,” who was always at her side.
She was predeceased by her mother and father; two brothers, Guy Sargent Jr. and Robert “Skeeter” Sargent; two sisters, Diane Haley and Judy Miller; a grandson, Matthew Stover; a stepdaughter, Ida-Mae West; and a brother-in-law, Carroll West.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
