LeRoy C. Smith Jr., 79, of Mariaville died at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on Oct. 16, 2021. Lee was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Jan. 13, 1942, to parents LeRoy C. Smith Sr. and Marie Van Velsor Smith.
Lee was known as a self-employed master electrician in Hancock County for 38 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was a life member of VFW Post 109 and American Legion Post 207, where he served as adjutant and honor guard. He was a charter member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Ellsworth Elks No. 2743.
Lee is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sue Ann; his sister Suzanne Herbig and her husband, Larry, on Long Island, N.Y.; stepchildren in Maine and New York; step-grandchildren in Maine and New York; and nieces and nephews in New York.
He will be missed by all who knew him. A private celebration of life and scattering of ashes was held on Oct. 23.
