Judie Anne King, 65, passed peacefully Sept. 22, 2021, in Venice, Fla.
Judie was born in Bar Harbor on May 9, 1956. She graduated from Sumner Memorial High School in 1975. She moved to Sarasota, Fla., in 1977 and worked for Publix for 35 years before retiring early this year.
Judie was an avid seashell collector who could tell you anything and everything about a seashell. But what gave her the most comfort was the loves of her life Bryssa, Pandora and the many rescue cats she adopted and pampered throughout their days.
Judie was preceded by her mother, Janice Myrick King, and her father, Harold King, of Winter Harbor.
Judie is survived by her twin sister Julie King Burks and her husband, David Burks, of Ellsworth and sister JoAnne Woodworth and brother Jamie King of Sarasota, Fla. She is also survived by her nephew Brett and his wife, Ashley Woodworth, and their children Brenner and Marlow of Venice, Fla.; nephew David O. Burks and his children Brayden and Addison Burks of Ladysmith, Va.; niece Susan Burks of Virginia Beach; nephew Benjamin Burks and his wife, Chiaki Burks, and their children Dillen and Logan of Augusta, Ga.; and many cousins, friends and co-workers at Publix.
At Judie’s request, a private service will be conducted in Maine at the convenience of the family. The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to your local SPCA in honor of Judie’s love for her rescue cats.
