Cherryfield

Caryl Lynn Dufour, 80½, went home to be with her sweet Lord, Jesus, on Sept. 7, leaving this Earth as she wished, from the peace of her home in Cherryfield. If you knew Caryl, you will realize there is not enough paper in the world to describe her talents in music, gardening, painting, sewing, cooking, crafts and more. She was always giving to others, accepting of everyone and the gentlest of spirits. She was the nearest thing on Earth that there is to an “angel” in the flesh. Her life, her love and gifts to us all will be greatly missed by the love of her life, her husband, Jim; her daughter, Suzan Lesmerises, and husband, Peter, of N. Stonington, Conn.; son Daniel Sweimler, his wife, Christian, and “her boy” Fox (grandson) from Surry; stepson James Dufour, his wife, Rachel, and grandson, Nico, from Burlington, Vt.; stepdaughter Jennifer York, her husband, Dan, and grandchildren Aurora, Aidan, Rebecca, Prudence and Juliet from Loudon, N.H.; her stepmother, Mary Shales, in Pleasantville, N.J.; her brother, Marvin Shales, in Naples, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Ruth Shales, in Sweetwater, Tenn.; and many nieces, nephews and their children, friends and neighbors.

A celebration of Caryl’s remarkable life will take place at Cherryfield Congregational Church on Sept. 24 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry Zimmerman officiating. Because of Caryl’s greatest love of plants and gardening, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Incredible Edible Milbridge and Milbridge Commons Wellness Park, which may be made at whrl.org.

Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com.
