Louise Sealy passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 27, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. She just celebrated her 94th birthday.

Born Aug. 1, 1927, in Ellsworth, Maine to Mrs. Rita Austin and Mr. H. Dana Austin, Louise is survived by her husband of 72 years, George Sealy; her son, Clark Sealy; her daughter, Barbara Hodgkins; her son-in-law, Lloyd Hodgkins and her two grandchildren, Dana Hodgkins and Philip Hodgkins and his wife, Megan Hodgkins. She was predeceased by her two younger brothers, Dana Austin Jr. and Bill Austin.

Louise started working at the phone company when she was still in high school and for the next 34 years was one of those wonderful voices at AT&T that would answer your call with “number please” and continued to be of assistance when the company changed over to a computer-based system. She retired in 1985 at the age of 58. She was a standing member of the AT&T Pioneers volunteer organization.

While still in high school, she enjoyed playing clarinet in the orchestra, as well as tuning up the orchestra and band with her clarinet. She also loved tap dancing.

Louise had the pleasure of living in Ellsworth her entire life, and when her children were grown, traveled extensively to South America, the Caribbean and Hawaii.  She was also introduced to the wonderful life on board cruise ships and enjoyed four beautiful cruises on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.

Louise was an avid knitter and donated many socks and mittens to local schools. She also loved flowers and had two beautiful rock gardens.

The family would like to thank Mary Jane Foss, Louise’s kind and loving caregiver.

In keeping with Louise’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church, 2 Church St, Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Arrangements are under the care of Jordan-Fernald Funeral Homes, 113 Franklin St, Ellsworth, ME 04605. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com
