ELLSWORTH
– William L. “Larry” Tucker, 87, died peacefully after a long illness Sept. 11, 2016, at Courtland Nursing Home. He was born April 15, 1929, in Cherryfield, the son of Maude and Hoyt Tucker.

Larry left school to support his family, and started a lifelong career in logging, retiring in the late 1990s.

Years after retirement, he became a familiar face for his selfrun blueberry stand. Though he left the woods professionally, Lawrence continued to explore Maine’s forests, mountains, lakes and streams. He was an avid lover of nature and wildlife, a love he passed along to his family and friends.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his carefree attitude and caring heart. Though modest in finance, he was rich in experience, adventure and love. He was a beloved member of the Brewer Eagles Club.

Lawrence is survived by son Lawrence Tucker Jr. and wife, Linda, of Ellsworth; son Randy Tucker and partner, Monica, of Ellsworth; son Larry Alley and partner, Adele, of Bangor; daughter Kathy Doyle and husband, Richard, of Ellsworth; daughter Karen Sawyer and husband, Tom, of Ellsworth; grandchildren Jared Tucker and wife, Dana, of Belmont, N.H.; Justin Chamberlain and partner, Kaila, of Portland; Isaiah Albert, of Ellsworth; greatgrandchild Blaise Tucker; sisters Elizabeth Smith and Alice Martin; brother Brian Tucker; several nieces and nephews; and former spouse and dear friend, Dorothy Alley. He was predeceased by mother and father Maude and Hoyt Tucker, brothers Lionel, Alan and Ray Tucker.

At his request, a private service will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of gifts, please consider donations to Courtland Nursing Home c/o Activities Fund, 42 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth, ME 04605. The family would like to sincerely thank Courtland Rehabilitation and its staff for their exceptional, caring service. Arrangements by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct, P.O.
