James A. Flannery Jr.

James A. Flannery Jr. passed away May 12, 2021, at his parents’ home. He was born Sept. 16, 1981, at an Ellsworth hospital.

He was the son of Rebecca Wilbur and James A. Flannery Sr. He served as a lieutenant at the Penobscot Fire Department, spent 15 years with Doug Gott as a pulp truck driver and grew up helping and working at the Blue Hill Fair. He was a devoted father to three beautiful girls. He was passionate about being outside and spending time with family, fishing, four wheeling and having campfires surrounded by people he loved.

He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Wilbur; stepfather Timothy Wilbur; his three daughters, Kaitlynn, Logan and Ashton Flannery; his brother Derek Wilbur and wife, Tyne, as well as their son Jase; both grandmothers, Margot Flannery and Jeannie Chambers; his sister by heart Brandi Ensworth; and his best friend and uncle John Flannery, his childhood best friend Nick Gatcomb. He also leaves behind his partner Natasha Cunningham and her three sons, Drayk, Ayden and Quinton, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, James A. Flannery Sr., and his two grandfathers, Roger Flannery and Larry Chambers Sr.

A celebration of life will be held June 25, 2021, at noon, at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Penobscot Fire Department.
