Ellsworth
Arthur E. Burns, 82, died March 15, 2021, at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital from complications of pneumonia and COVID-19. He was born April 28, 1938, the youngest child of Amanda (Farnsworth) Burns. Arthur was born in Bar Harbor and attended schools there. He was married to Judith (Hutchins) for 44 years until her death in November 2015. They moved to Lamoine in 1971 and spent their summers frequently visiting Bar Harbor and enjoying the beauty of Mount Desert Island.
Arthur retired in 2003 after working at Maine State DOT for 41 years. Before that he had worked at Bartlett Engineering and McFarland Funeral Home. His favorite pastime during retirement was watching classic Westerns and spending time relaxing at Sand Beach in Acadia National Park.
Arthur is survived by daughters Debbie Burns and her fiancé Steve Springer of Ellsworth and Cheryl Dean and her husband, Milton, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a granddaughter, Brianna Springer of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by his mother, his wife, his brothers, Richard and Owen, a sister, Betty Crocker and a son-in-law, Randy Sargent.
Arthur requested that there be no service held. Interment will be in Town Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and Dr. Ang for their excellent care and understanding during Arthur’s stay in the hospital.
