Lorraine N. Woodruff

GOULDSBORO/NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Lorraine N. Woodruff, 91, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, in New Brunswick, N.J.

Lorraine N. Woodruff lived 91 years. She was born in Chicago, Ill., daughter of Thomas J. Nayder and Rose Cecelia Truhlar; graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago in 1943; served as a cadet nurse during World War II, where she met her husband, Henry M. Woodruff. She graduated from Jackson Park Hospital Nursing School in October 1946. Lorraine lived in Plainfield for more than 50 years and spent a lot of time at the family’s home in Gouldsboro, Maine.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry M. Woodruff, in 2001 and six siblings. Mrs. Woodruff is survived by her 10 children: Henry M. Jr. (Sue), Ellen Eltgroth (Stefan), Tom (Barbara), Jane Campbell (Keith), Janet Kolb (Barry), Robert (Eva Jane), Margaret Givens (Larry), Mary Hicks, Martha Rath (Robert) and Benjamin (Marie). She is survived by a brother, Ben Nayder. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at a memorial service on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 5 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 218 Dunellen Ave., Dunellen, NJ 08812 or the Parker Home, 501 Easton Ave., New Brunswick, NJ 08901. Arrangements are in the care of The Mundy Funeral Home in Dunellen.
