On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, Jerry L. McLean, loving husband and father of nine, was unexpectedly granted his angel wings at the age of 63.
Jerry was born July 14, 1957, in Erwin, N.C., to Annie Marsh McLean and Frank McLean. Jerry could do anything he set his mind to. Jerry drove a school bus for some time before he graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1975. He went on to Central Carolina Technical College for the electrical technology and cable programs. He then worked for Charter, a cable and internet company, before moving to Maine in 1989.
Jerry met Carla Yeaton in January 1995. He married her, the love of his life, on July 30, 2005. Jerry brought to the marriage eight children, Jocelyn, Carlos, Keshia, Javon, Erica, Bridgette, Joseph and Jessyca. Together, Jerry and Carla raised a daughter, Deondra. Jerry was a social butterfly who had an infectious smile and a passion for helping others. He was always there to lend a helping hand, listening ear or friendly advice to whomever he met. Jerry, with his passion for helping people, gave a lot of his time to Pleasant River, Cherryfield and Petit Manan Ambulance Corps. He also volunteered with the Cherryfield and Beddington/Deblois fire departments. Jerry worked many years as an oil truck driver with Webber Energy Fuels, Dead River Co., Kelly Oil and Hammond Oil Co. He moved on to delivering portable sheds for Rachel Sheds between 2016 and 2019. At the time of his passing, he was working for County Concrete driving an oil truck.
Jerry was an active Masonic member of Narraguagus Lodge No. 88 and Anah Shrine Temple, where he joined the Wheeler Unit. He enjoyed going to functions that all fraternities held and made many brothers and friends throughout his time involved. Parading with the Wheelers always brought him great joy. Jerry was known for his love for country music, often donning cowboy hats and boots along with following his favorite band, Midnight Rose. Jerry’s interests included dancing, fishing, talking to people, playing guitar and spending time with his beloved family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carla T. McLean, who was the love of his life for 26 years; six daughters, Jocelyn McLean of Sanford, N.C., Keshia McIver of Sanford, N.C., Erica Mcneill of Fayetteville, N.C., Bridgette Mcneill of Ellsworth, Jessyca Newenham of Bucksport and Deondra Thistlewood of Cherryfield; three sons, Carlos McLean of Cameron, N.C., Javon McLean of Sanford, N.C., and Joseph Mcneill of Ellsworth; four sisters, Bessie Terrell and husband, Walter, of Spring Lake, N.C., Brenda Mckinnis and husband, Douglas, of Lillington, N.C., Mary McLean of Lillington, N.C., and Joyce Mcdougald of Sanford, N.C.; two brothers, Frank McLean Jr. of Lillington, N.C., and James McLean of Cameron, N.C.; 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions. His family hopes to hold something in his honor the summer of 2021 around his birthday. Jerry was known by many and loved by all. He will never be forgotten.
