Nancy T. Forsythe, 79, passed away peacefully the morning of Oct. 6, 2020. She was born in Gouldsboro to Allen B. and Frances (West) Tuttle on May 10, 1941. She was born prematurely, and the doctor did not expect her to survive the night. She overcame that grim prediction, beating the odds. Her grandmother Vera Coffin took special care of her that night to ensure she made it through, and thus began a lifelong bond between grandmother and granddaughter.
Nancy grew up at Tuttle’s Store in Gouldsboro and attended Sumner Memorial High School. She was an avid softball and basketball player in her youth and was involved in her granddaughter, Kelsey’s, childhood sports activities as well. Her love for sports translated into a love for the Boston Red Sox and Patriots, although she also supported the Green Bay Packers due to her partner, Peter Talarick’s, love for the team. She and Pete rarely missed a game, either listening to it on the radio or watching it on TV.
After retiring from Walmart, she would always be sure to catch up with her special friends, most notably Jackie Sackett, going on shopping outings and out to lunch. She also regularly attended luncheons with her “girlfriends,” former classmates from Sumner High School. During the summers, Nancy and Pete would spend days at his camp on Graham Lake in Ellsworth, enjoying the scenic view and fresh air.
Nancy was predeceased by her mother, father, Aunt Carmen Dorr, Uncle William West and Aunt Thelma “Bo” Cope, whom she shared a close relationship with, particularly after the passing of her mother, Frances. She was also preceded in death by her partner, and dear companion, Peter Talarick. She joins other aunts, uncles and cousins, whom we can only hope celebrated a family reunion at her arrival on the other side of the rainbow. She leaves behind her son Allen Forsythe and his partner Melissa Ginn; daughter Jane and husband, John Strunk; granddaughter Kelsey and husband, Matthew Abbott; and grandson Kameron Veinot. She will be remembered by her many family members and friends, in particular by cousin Ellen and her husband, Nolan Rossi; and her best friend Jackie Sackett, who will miss her greatly.
Nancy will be interred at West Bay Cemetery, along with her parents and grandmother, Vera, with hopes of a small remembrance gathering in the spring. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where online condolences may be shared: www.bragdonkelley.com.
