Stephen Dana Bemiss, 74, died Oct. 17, 2020, in Ellsworth after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Ellsworth, Aug. 17, 1946, the son of Howard DeVere and Phyllis Richert (Phillips) Bemiss Jr.
Stephen attended school in Falmouth and graduated from Colgate University. He was a captain in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Riverside Glass Inc. for 26 years, served as a Surry selectman for 22 years and was a girls’ soccer coach at GSA for 20 years. Stephen was an avid Boston sports fan.
He is survived by son, Stephen Bemiss; sisters, Andrea Archer and husband, Robert, and Ann Stadden. He was predeceased by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at the Village Cemetery, Surry.
