Ellen Amanda Buteau, 78, passed away on Sept. 6 at Village Manor in Corinth after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born June 1, 1942, in Lewiston to Bertrand and Rita Buteau.
Ellen was a server for many years in different places throughout Hancock County and beyond. In her later years she became licensed to work in her daughter’s assisted living facilities as a CNA and CRMA. She had a passion for sewing and when her girls were little she would make all of their clothes. Her second passion was dancing. To watch her and her brother on the dance floor was a sight to behold. She was spunky and sassy and matter-of-fact with everyone she met. She was surrounded by family in the end and they wish to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Sharon Grant, Monica Deyro and Paul Miller for the excellent and loving care they provided both to her and her family until her final moments.
Ellen is survived by her children, Irene Johnson and husband Brad of Bradford, Brenda Dickens and husband John of Eastbrook and Prescilla Harper and husband Cary of Old Town. Grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Torrey, Ellie Grant, Kate Dickens, Kat Dickens, Gary Harper and Cody Harper. Great-grandchildren, Shyra Call, Austin Call, Mark Long, Ethan Magoon and Mallorie Magoon. Her siblings, JoAnn Goodwin of Franklin, Gus Buteau and wife Pat of Ellsworth and Tom Buteau of Franklin. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Phil Buteau, and grandson Christopher John Dickens.
There will be a celebration of Ellen’s life on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, from 2-5 p.m. at the Ellsworth Elks Lodge. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellen’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
