HANCOCK
Nancy Laura Kephart of Hancock passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough on July 9, 2020.
Nancy was born in the Philippines on Aug. 6, 1941, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy Kephart. Her father was stationed in the Philippines.
She grew up and resided just down the road from the family house in Hancock. She was a teacher at Hancock Grammar School for many years.
She was involved with the Hancock community. She started the Santa Fund for the children in need in Hancock.
Nancy decided to adopt two children, one from the Philippines and the other from El Salvador. She loved her children and would do anything to help them when she could.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jackie Grant and her husband Derek of Gouldsboro; her son, Andrew Kephart of Bar Harbor; Bitsy, her 16-year-old miniature dachshund; and her sister, Nell Kramer and her husband Sydney of Syracuse, N.Y. She also has many nephews, cousins, a great-nephew and a great-niece.
A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
