Neal Kenneth Dow Jr.

ELLSWORTH

Neal Kenneth Dow Jr., 84, passed away Feb. 20, 2020, at MDI Hospital, Bar Harbor. He was born in Gouldsboro, April 1, 1935, the son of Neal K. and Marcia G. (Foss) Dow Sr.

Neal attended Steuben High School until its closing and then attended Sumner Memorial High School, where he graduated in 1953. He married the love of his life, Christine Ray, in 1956, moving to Ellsworth in 1958, where he worked for Linnehan Auto Sales, Ashmore Bros. and Harmon Tire until his retirement in 2007. After he retired, he worked part time for Saunders Automotive, NAPA and Darling’s.

Neal was a member of Acadia Chapter No. 31, Knights Templar Commandry No. 40 and Anah Shrine Temple of Bangor. He was also a member of the Ellsworth Fire Department and Senator Hale Hose Company for 22 years.

He enjoyed motorcycling with his wife, Christine, and their many motorcycle friends. Neal also enjoyed golfing and bowling in the winter in Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, of 64 years; children, Rose White and husband, James, of Otis, Sandy Salsbury and husband, Blaine, of Otis, Brenda Archer and husband, Scott, of Ellsworth and David Dow and wife, Tammy, of Ellsworth; grandchildren, Dean, Amanda, Jason, Jessica, Tiffany, Laura, Christopher, Dacota and Molly; great-grandchildren, Gregory, Taylor, Brady, Leah, Lydia, Stella, Cameron and Everly; great-great-grandchildren, Ross and Sophia; and brother, Frederick and wife, Ellen, of Zephyrhills, Fla. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Margaret Bickford and Kathleen Ray; and brother, Roger Dow.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 25, 2020, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth, with a Masonic service at 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Feb. 26 at the funeral home. Spring interment will be at Woodbine Cemetery, Ellsworth.
