ELLSWORTH

Richard Wayne Kane, 78, left his earthly family to join his heavenly family on Dec. 21, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born June 24, 1941, in Ellsworth, the son of the late Ira and Effie Kane.

Richard attended Ellsworth schools, graduating from EHS in 1959 and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Upon returning, he married the love of his life, Meredith (MJ) Tibbetts, on Aug. 7, 1964, and raised five daughters.

Richard wore many hats in his life. He owned Kane Konstruction, Rainbow Roller Rink and The Carousel Club. He was known by many for his thought-provoking editorials, civic duties, refereeing ball games and plowing driveways.

It is very difficult to sum up the life of a great man. Richard loved his family and those who became his family with great passion and unwavering devotion. When he took time for himself, he enjoyed hunting, golfing and a good cigar.

Richard is survived by his wife, Meredith; daughters Vicki Noddin and husband, Bruce, Kelli Merchant and husband, Rick, Juli Kane, Michaela Kane and Danielle Sargent and husband, Ben; grandchildren Cori-Lynn Noddin, Nicholas and Andrea Noddin, Cassie, Jodie and Richelle Merchant, Rory Kane McCann, Michael Kane, Robbie and Lacey Harriman, Erik and Grace Harriman and Travis Harriman; great-grandchildren Caden Martin, Olivia and Colby Noddin, Elliana Frey, Kellan Merchant, Michael Kane Jr. and Naomi Harriman; siblings Audrey Ryder, Elloise Falvey, Elaine Roth, Marilyn (Pete) Turnbull, Beverly Blanchfield, Jasper Kane, Gerald Kane and Gregory (Dewey) Kane; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings Susie Buzzell and Ira Kane Jr.

He will be greatly missed by all. We love you more.

In lieu of flowers, cards and condolences can be sent to Meredith Kane, 512 Bayside Rd Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Please join us for a celebration of life Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 419 Main St, Ellsworth. Light lunch, coffee, soda and water will be provided.
