
LAMOINE
Philip E. Sargent, 86, passed away peacefully on Nov. 26, 2019. Philip was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Blue Hill, the son of Elwin and Ellen (Sargent) Sargent. After graduating from Winter Harbor High School, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS New Jersey and USS DeMoine in the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked a variety of jobs including Hinckley’s, Philips 66 and a long career working for the Maine School System at Lamoine Grammar and MDI High School driving school buses and doing custodial work. His final job before retirement was with the Island Explorer. Philip was the chief for the Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department as well as the constable for the town for many years. In his children’s early years, he and Beulah were leaders of the Lamoine 4-H Club.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beulah Ann (Carter) Sargent. Together they had five children; two daughters, Elizabeth “Tiz” Beaulieu and Lori Cross, both of Bangor; three sons, Leon Sargent and his wife, Nancy, Philip “Tiger” L. Sargent and his wife, Misti, and Adam Sargent and his wife, Jennifer, all of Lamoine; two stepsisters, Ruth Foster and Pat “Tete”Forrest; 10 grandchildren, Sara, Victoria, Austin, Joshua, Alison, Emily, Ian, Katera, Tobius and Oliver; two great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Liam. Philip was predeceased by his brother Clyde Sargent and two grandchildren, Jessica and Philip Beaulieu.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Lamoine Baptist Church, 24 Lamoine Beach Road.
