Henry Winfield Brown, 91, of Bar Harbor died Oct. 23, 2019, at his home. He was born July 12, 1928, in Bar Harbor to Carroll C. and Elsie (Chase) Brown.

Henry graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1946. He married Mary (Keene) Brown on Oct. 6, 1951. He served in the Army from 1953-1955 stationed at Arlington Hall in Arlington, Va. After the service, he returned home and worked at the family business, H.A. Brown Furniture Co., until it closed in 1996.

Henry was a call-member of the Bar Harbor Fire Department for 45 years. He was deputy chief at his retirement. He was a member of the Anah Temple and Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge #185, becoming Masonic Lodge Master, as was his father and grandfather before him. He served on the Town Council, MDI Hospital Board and Bar Harbor Savings & Loan. Henry was a lifelong member of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church.

Henry enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Lamoine.

Henry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years. He is survived by his children: Henry and wife, Cheri, Ellen and husband, Ray, Stephen and wife, Linda, Beth and husband Kevin. Grandchildren: Vanessa and husband, Fred, Chase, Nathan, Adam, Travis, Taylor, Jordan and Shawn; special cousin Tyler Proctor.

Graveside services will be at the East Lamoine Cemetery Nov. 2, 2019, at 1 p.m. Friends and neighbors are welcome to join the family for refreshments at Henry’s home on Greeley Avenue at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, 29 Mt Desert St.
