ELLSWORTH

Brian Kent Ormsby passed away on May 20, 2019, in a Virginia hospital due to complications from COPD, a respiratory issue. He was born on Aug. 13, 1940, and grew up in Hermon.

Brian worked most of his life as a barber in Ellsworth, where he was known as “Brian, the barber.” He loved to tell stories of his hunting and fishing experiences to all of his clients. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish for trout. He would ice fish every Sunday despite very bad weather. Brian’s other passion was karate. He worked his way up to a black belt and sensei with the Tracy’s Karate and was known as the “rib breaker.” On his off time, he would be seen mowing lawns, chopping wood and keeping a garden, which we did as a family.

Brian is survived by his wife, Reba, his daughters Kim and Maria, son Stephen, stepsons Joe and Woody, brothers, grandchildren and many others, including many friends.

A small graveside service, at his request, was performed and he was laid to rest in his family plot in Hermon. He will be greatly missed by us all. May he rest in peace.
