BASS HARBOR
Carol Ann Dow, 82, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Sept. 11, 2019, after her battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Nov. 15, 1937, the daughter of Fred A. and Viola E. (Gordon) Martin.
Following her 1954 graduation from Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan, Carol married Carleton D. Dow. They settled and raised a family in Bass Harbor. Carleton and Carol shared their love and marriage for nearly 50 years until his death in 2006.
Carol’s servant nature called her to become a homecare worker after working at The Jackson Laboratory and raising her family of five boys. She was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Baptist, Manset Union and Tremont Congregational churches.
Carol will be remembered by her family for her infectious smile, love of music and delicious pies. Her love of the Lord was evident in everything she did. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse Ephesians 4:32, “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” She was a caregiver for people of all walks of life, and especially loved caring for those who were less fortunate.
She is survived by a brother, Wayne, and his wife, Debbie, of Winter Harbor and Lake Worth, Fla.; sons, Gregory and his wife, Carrie, of West Tremont; Peter and his wife, MaryAnn, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; James and his wife, Annette, of Town Hill; Donald and his wife, Angela, of Ellsworth; and Dennis and his wife, Alice, of Winter Harbor; nine grandchildren, Lisa Parsons, Cassandra Crabtree, Blythe Dow, Mallory Groenevelt, Megan Dow, Mackenzie Dow, Madison Dow, Delaney Dow and Carleton Dow; and one great-granddaughter, Shelby Parsons.
Join her family at a celebration of life ceremony to take place on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m., at Tremont Congregational Church in Bass Harbor.
Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
