FRANKLIN

Barry Noel Joy of Franklin passed away Sept. 9, 2019, in the great care of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bangor, with loving family at his bedside. He was born on Feb. 20, 1932, in Hog Bay and it is there he built a life that spanned 87 years.

Through the years he became well known throughout Downeast Maine for his love of country music, performing at venues far and wide with some of the best musicians around. He was well regarded for his skills as a finish carpenter and built and remodeled several homes throughout the area. He learned every detail about topics that held great interest for him. He was a sportsman, fly fishing the Narraguagus River, where he holds the record for landing the largest salmon. He was an avid supporter of high school sports in his later years, attending nearly every Sumner basketball game.

His legacy, though, was his family and it’s through them and their lives he became most fulfilled. He leaves behind his children Laurie, Valerie, Vicky, Shawna, Deidre, Linda, Susan, Stacey, Jackie and a son Chris, many grandchildren, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Michael.

He is going home now to be laid to rest on the hill in Hog Bay where he longed never to leave. Please join us in the celebration of his life on 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, at the Franklin Veterans Club. Condolences may be expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
