BAR HARBOR
Charles Edward Egan, 68, died on Aug. 27 of health complications at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Murfreesboro, Tenn., the son of George and Jacquelyn Egan.
Charles graduated from MDI High School, Class of 1968. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Following his retirement, Charles worked for the Military Sealift Command for 10 years. He especially enjoyed being in the outdoors taking long walks, hunting and gardening.
Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bar Harbor. Charles was dedicated to his church and strong in his faith. Having responded to the gospel of Jesus Christ, we have assurance that he now rests in the presence of God because of the atoning power of the blood of Christ, and enjoys fellowship with God.
Charles is survived by his cherished children Jeremiah and Loretta Egan of Newport News, Va., his beloved sister Frances Nickels and brother-in-law Carroll Nickels of Bar Harbor, nephews John Nickels and his wife, Regan, of Hampden and Michael Nickels and his wife, Angela, of Milford, Mass., and extended family Bryce, Claire and Drew Nickels.
A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Ledgelawn Cemetery in Bar Harbor. Gifts in Charles’ memory can be made to BYC Children’s Camp via donation to the First Baptist Church of Bar Harbor.
