FRANKLIN

Diane Lynn Bickford, 64, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, only six weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.

Diane graduated from Sumner Memorial High School in 1974 and left her hometown of Franklin for 10 years before returning for the remainder of her life. Diane was a kind, honest, loyal, humble, hardworking and overall wonderful person that most everybody liked who knew her. Once people learned of her terminal status, she received a constant stream of visitors every day for an entire month straight — a true testament to her character. She loved to read and was almost never seen without her Kindle Fire at arm’s reach.

To many, she was a friend, confidant, a dependable employee and, most importantly, the glue for the amazing family she stemmed from. She was absolutely adored by her two children and could not have been prouder of them both. She possessed a boundless work ethic, at times juggling up to three jobs at once. She never called in sick for 11 years while working full time at the Franklin Trading Post and part time at Edgewater Hotel in Bar Harbor during the tourist season. In fact, she worked full time right to the point she needed hospitalization, unknowing of her sickness, because she was tougher than nails.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Ruth Pung, and brother, Ricky. She is survived by her children, Teresa and Travis, her siblings, Barbie, Lorraine, Andrew, Gregory and Eddie, and special friends Sharon, Susan, Cindy and David, and a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

In lieu of donations, Diane requests that you save your money toward retirement, and that you should retire as soon as possible.
