Lee R. Lounder, 78, died unexpectedly Aug. 9, 2019, in Ellsworth. He was born in Franklin, June 27, 1941, the son of Charles E. and Shirley (Sawyer) Lounder.

Lee served in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany. He was a worm digger throughout his life. He also worked for the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Ellsworth Police Department. When he lived in Houston, Texas, he worked as the maintenance director for a chain of 7 Elevens.

He is survived by daughters, Julie Lounder and husband, Les Waite, and Kim Lounder Ruiz; a son, Robert Lounder and wife, Brenda; brothers, Dave, Johnny and Phillip Lounder; one special granddaughter, Olivia Grace; and eight grandsons; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his feline companion, Ruger. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Lounder; and brother, Charles Lounder.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019, at the Eastbook Community Center.
