Cherryfield
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Loretta F. Mayhew, 75, passed away July 9, 2019, at home with her husband by her side, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 4, 1943, the daughter of Lawrence and Caroline (Whitten) Stanwood. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl of Cherryfield; three children, Steve Palmer and wife, Tammy, of Islesford, Kimberly Smith and husband, Tony, of Cherryfield, Melissa Hicks and Adam of Derry, N.H. Ten grandchildren: Johnny, Erin and husband, Erik, Corey and wife, Jordan, Blake and wife, Seaira, Hayden and wife, Becca, Haley and husband, David, Kyle, Adison, Linnea and Drew. Eleven great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Emma, Charlotte, Wyatt, Paisley, Emery, Uriah, Bria, Audrina, Everett and Rowan. She was also blessed to have a special niece, Christine Corro, who was very dear to her. Loretta had many lifelong friends; Janet (Parritt) Woodard and husband, Dale, Betty and Roy Engstrom, past and present teachers of Narraguagus High School and many more special people who came into her life through snowmobiling, camp, kids and community.
There will be an open house on Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. in the home that Carl and Loretta had built together and raised their family at 129 Park St., Cherryfield.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are comforted by the unending love and care we have all received from her. These words of wisdom from Loretta were found jotted down on a notepad … Be Positive! Be Happy! Let go of the past. Concentrate on what you can do, not what you can’t.
