Patricia Carlin Bruce

Patricia Carlin Bruce, 76, passed away June 25, 2019, in Tennessee. She was born in Lewiston, March 7, 1943, the daughter of Harry Wendell and Vernetta Pauline (Rector) Carlin.

Patricia graduated from Edward Little High School, attended the University of Maine-Orono, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in political science, and was a graduate of Kansas State University with a Masters of Special Education. She taught special education in Junction City, Kan., Danvers, Mass., and Ellsworth. She loved being a teacher and spent many years devoted to children of all ages who had learning disabilities. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, breakfast club with friends and baking for churches. Patricia was married to Robert G. Bruce, who died Aug. 18, 2009.

She is survived by daughters, Leah Ott and husband, David, of Madison, Ind., Rebecca Gobel and husband, John, of Franklin, Tenn.; son, Timothy Bruce of Portland; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Mackenzie, Julia, Anna, Owen, Thomas, Quinn and Sadie; brother, Harry Wendell Carlin; sister, Polly Bussiere; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; three sisters and two brothers.

Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, at St. Joseph Church, Ellsworth. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
