STEUBEN – Harriet P. Pinkham, 79, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2016, surrounded by her family following a long illness. Harriet was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Steuben to Philmore and Beatrice Stanwood. She attended schools in Steuben.
Harriet worked various jobs throughout her life. Her last job was at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility in housekeeping. This was a job she loved, especially being around the residents.
The joy of Harriet’s life was spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, whom she adored. They could always bring a smile to her face. She loved to go shopping, work in her flower gardens, bake, and celebrate the holidays. Harriet was known for wearing bright red lipstick and red bandanas.
Harriet is survived by two sons; Elwood (Bimbo) Pinkham and his wife, Joan, and John Pinkham; one daughter, Adeline Kinghorn and her husband, Stephen, all of Steuben; grandchildren Stephen Kinghorn and partner Angela of Franklin, Benjamin Kinghorn and partner Shayna, Amber Pinkham, Jody Leighton and her husband, Joseph, all of Steuben. She had five great-grandchildren that she adored: Mariah, Kaytlin, Anna, Kelly, and Wyatt, all from Steuben. She is also survived by her sisters Theresa and Shirley; brothers Philmore Jr., Arthur, Clifford, and Gary, all from Steuben; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Thurston; her parents Philmore and Beatrice Stanwood; sisters Ruthie and her husband Charlie Falkingham, Maxine and her husband, Ralph Curtis; sisters-in-law Cindy and Sarah Stanwood and niece Rita Wallace.
The family would like to thank the staff at NBHCF, Downeast Hospice, and the volunteers that took such loving care of our mother. You are such a special group of people.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 26, at the Church of the Open Bible, Rte. 1 in Cherryfield, with pastors Art Cotton and Greg Hewitt officiating. A reception will be held immediately following in the downstairs Fellowship Room.
In lieu of flowers, send donations in Harriet’s memory to the Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility “Resident’s Activity Fund.”
