Blue Hill
Duane Eaton passed away peacefully at home on the eve of May 20, one day after his 86th birthday, with his beloved twins at his side.
Duane was a strong, hearty man who cut his own wood, grew his garden with vigor and very much enjoyed a 4 o’clock glass of bourbon. He took great pride in keeping his house in tip-top condition and even built an addition complete with basement at age 65. He was rarely content to sit. His favorite times were spent on his tractor, lawnmowers or boats. Fishing was a major passion of Duane’s, both batching and eating. He also loved working in his shop, where he spent hours fixing, tinkering and creating.
He spoke fondly of both of his late wives, saying often how lucky he was to find two good women when many never found one.
Duane is survived by one son, Robert Eaton, a sister Jane and many nieces and nephews. Also four stepchildren, Joan, John, Malinda and Tom. And a special grandchild, Megan, and her child, Alex, and a great-grandchild, whom Duane especially loved.
Any donations in Duane’s memory may be made to the Tree of Life in Blue Hill.
