Deer Isle
William B. Rice Sr., born in Deer Isle on Dec. 11, 1945, passed away May 21, 2019.
He was the loving husband of 51 years to Ruth Ann (Campbell) Rice. William was a lifelong commercial fisherman and jack of all trades. He loved camping, hunting and traveling with his wife and dogs around North America.
William was predeceased by his son Preston Tyler Rice in 2006, his mother, Olive (Conary) Rice, and father, Marshall L. Rice Sr. He is survived by his son William B. Rice Jr. and partner David A. Pearson. Brother Marshall Jr. and wife, Janet (Greenlaw) Rice, and sister Elaine (Rice) Taggart. Grandchildren Bryant, Elizabeth and Mercades Rice. Sisters-in-law Susan (Campbell) Allen and husband, Spencer Allen, and Patricia (Campbell) Hutchinson and husband, James Hutchinson Jr. Brother-in-law Robert L. Campbell Jr. and various nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the First Congregational Church in Deer Isle on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. A gathering will follow at the home of his son, William, at 59 South Deer Isle Road, Deer Isle.
