Gouldsboro
Diane E. Kovacs, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home in Gouldsboro on May 3, 2019. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on June 4, 1947 to Ruth and John Kovacs.
Diane worked in a variety of jobs, most recently retiring as an ed. tech. at Sumner, although she continued to enjoy cleaning summer houses in Sorrento.
Though Diane wasn’t born in Maine, after 40 years she considered herself a Mainer, but always said that there were two things wrong with Maine – the black flies were here and her family was not! Diane enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, traveling, reading and sewing. Her favorite times were spent with her children and grandchildren, swimming, reading and enjoying vacations together.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Margaret Hamerski, and niece and nephew, Jordan and Austin Converse. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy (Mickel) and Ben Wheaton and granddaughters Malia, Kate, and Olivia Wheaton of Sorrento, and her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Amanda Mickel, and grandchildren, Lillian, Keenan, and Cameron Mickel and Drew and Jacob Dyer of Sorrento. She is also survived by a sister, Maria Converse and husband, Bud, and nieces and nephews, Theresa Hamerski, Jennifer and Jim Cosenza, Reed and Karolina Converse, and Brooks and Alicia Converse, all of Connecticut.
A memorial service will be held in Sorrento this summer.
