TRENTON
Carl W. Easterlind, 89, of Trenton passed away after a short but courageous battle with leukemia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Dottie) V. Easterlind, as well as his daughter, Marcia J. Easterlind.
He leaves behind a sister, Ruth Cederberg, and her husband, Richard, of Mattapoisett, Mass., a son, Peter Easterlind, and his wife, Laura, of Marblehead, Mass., a daughter, Christine Astuccio, and her husband, Kevin, of Salisbury, Mass., as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many cherished friends from the Bar Harbor area.
Carl and Dottie raised their children in Marblehead, Mass., and worked in the Boston area, but they never skipped their yearly visit to Bar Harbor on their vacations until they were finally able to move north permanently upon their retirement.
Having spent his working life in the building trades, Carl built his first home in Maine in the village of Town Hill in Bar Harbor, and he and Dottie lived there for many years until they moved to a smaller, more manageable property in Trenton when Dottie became ill.
Carl had many friends of all ages who live in the area and was an inspiration to many who struggled with the ups and downs life presents. He was supported through his illness by many close friends, for which his family is so grateful. A celebration of his life will be held at his home on 43 Goose Cove Road in Trenton on April 27, 2019, from 2-5 p.m. All who knew Carl are invited. Memorial donations in his name may be sent to a local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous or the American Cancer Society.
