HANCOCK
Jeremy Daniel Kane, 38, passed away unexpectedly at home Jan. 11, 2019. He was born on Nov. 8, 1980, in Blue Hill to Robert and Lori (Rich) Kane.
Jeremy attended Hancock Grammar School, Hancock County Technical Center and graduated Ellsworth High in the year 2000. He was employed many years at Friend & Friend Motorsports, Ellsworth, as a phone receptionist.
Jeremy was a courageous young man with an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jeremy had a passion for life and adventure unlike any other. He loved Scouting, NASCAR racing, billiards, travel, photography, spending time with family and friends, and playing bass, a talent in which he had taught himself. In his last year of life, his most treasured time was spent in his camper at his family’s camp on Abram’s Pond. Jeremy always looked forward to hanging out at a camp with his father, Robert, and his brother, Jacob. Much to his dislike, his mother was always his biggest cheerleader.
In the words of one of his oldest and closest friends; “Strong is an understatement when talking about Jeremy Kane. He was a warrior! Boundaries were nothing because he is a “Kane” born with spina bifida. He turned nos into yeses. Jeremy did not let his disability hold him back. Told he was never going to walk or ride a bike. He and his amazing parents worked SO hard in proving the doctors wrong. He was one of the neighborhood kids racing around on bike or on foot, rolling down the hill then climbing back up. His smile! Happy, proud, naughty, tired, pissed, he had a beaming smile no matter the occasion. Jeremy found love in photography, playing the bass, traveling around, camp, drinking beers, being around family and friends. He enjoyed his life. He didn’t take things for granted. Jeremy’s can/will do attitude, gave him 38 years with us.”
Jeremy is survived by his parents, Robert and Lori (Rich) Kane of Hancock; his sister Jaclyn; his brothers, Jacob and Justin; and his loving nieces Sophia and Mersedes Kane;. his paternal uncles Reginald, David, Gary, and Ronald Kane; paternal Aunts Cheryl (Kane) Keep and Pye (Kane) Haslam and her life partner Matt McDevitt; his maternal grandmother Marion (Moon) Rich; maternal aunts Judy (Rich) and husband, Cliff Albee, and Mary (Rich) and husband, Mark Danico. He is further survived by many, many loving cousins and close friends who were all a special part of his life. Jeremy was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Philip Rich and a very special maternal great-grandmother, Nannie Moon; paternal grandparents Reginald Kane and Greta (Rankin) Kane, and paternal uncle Bruce Kane.
Jeremy leaves us with his legacy of hope, triumph and strength. We love you and will see you again down the road.
