
ELLSWORTH
Ellen Patricia Weed, 82, died Nov. 18, 2018, at her home in Ellsworth with her devoted husband of 63 years at her side. She was born in Calais on July 13, 1936, the daughter of Ralph Lorenzo and Ceciel Bernice (Sprague) Scott. Raised in East Machias, Ellen graduated from Washington Academy as valedictorian of the Class of 1954.
From 1970 to the present, Ellen and Cal have proudly managed The Sew and Save Shop in Ellsworth. She was equally adept at managing hearth and home, providing love and support for her family. Ellen brought her attention to detail and appreciation for color and structure to her handmade quilts. She is survived by her husband, Cal Weed, of Ellsworth, and children Karen A. Linehan and husband, James, of Bangor, Sue Ellen Parkes and husband, Robert, of New London, N.H., Terri L. Cormier and husband, Patrick, of Ellsworth and Steven R. Weed and wife, Cherie, of Seal Harbor. Grandchildren include Flynn Linehan, Anna Linehan, Conor Linehan, Avery Parkes, Talia Parkes, Aislinn Parkes, Benjamin Weed, Elizabeth “Grace” Weed and great-grandson Leslie “Ziggy” Marley. She is also survived by her brothers, Roy Scott, Fernald Scott and wife, Gail, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Betty L. Tuell and Doris Knowlton and Loleta McKee. She is also survived by dear friends Seldon and Marilyn Blethen, Delores Hanson and Patty Hall Gibson. A very special thank you to the Wendy and Michelle at Beacon Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth.
